Celebrating Excellence: Paul Stevenson of McCormick Stevenson Named ASME Fellow

Paul Stevenson, Principal and Executive Vice President of McCormick Stevenson, has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in recognition of his life-long contributions to the field and to the development of the next generation of engineers. This prestigious title underscores Paul’s remarkable achievements in the industry and an unwavering commitment to advancing the future of mechanical engineering.

The ASME Fellow title is conferred upon certain corporate members of the society who have distinguished themselves for significant engineering achievements through research, education, innovation, and service during active careers in engineering of at least ten years, based on nominations from ASME members. Paul’s nominations overwhelmingly captured not only the breadth of his technical contributions but his professional ethics, commitment to excellence and to “developing future leaders both inside his company as well as with ASME” by “mentoring them and inspiring them to take risks to succeed.”

Throughout a career that has spanned over thirty years, Paul has stood out as a beacon of innovation and transformation for mechanical design engineering in the defense and aerospace sectors. From beginnings as draftsman and working his way through college to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida (USF), Paul eventually became an executive at MCCST where he continues to foster the growth of the company and the next generation of engineers that make MCCST what it is today.

But, for Paul, it is all about the future. His strong belief that “a strong cadre of engineering students is critical to our nation and national defense” emanates through the halls at MCCST.

Paul has been active in a myriad of professional societies including ASME, PDMA and PMI, both locally and nationally.  He formerly served on the Exam Review Committee for ASME’s Engineering Management Certification program and supported his local section of ASME, the Florida West Coast section, as Student Liaison to the USF Student Chapter for many years.  He also served on the Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board at USF, and recently completed a three year term on the ASME Board of Governors.

At MCCST, Paul is instrumental in defining a corporate culture that encourages MCCST employees, at all levels, to give back to our community in ways that foster growth of individuals and industries that support America’s Heroes. Our engineers are all encouraged to support volunteer organizations, especially those that promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, and improvements to industry standards.

On behalf of all of us at McCormick Stevenson, we want to express our sincere gratitude to Paul for all he has done for us, for our clients, and for the industry. Congratulations on a well-deserved honor!  Well done!
