We would love to tell you how wonderful it is to intern with us, but we don’t want you to take our word for it – we want to encourage you to listen to the MCCST community instead. These testimonials are our inspiration every day for providing you the best internship experience we can.

The Path from Intern to Engineer

“My internship at McCormick Stevenson was a fantastic experience. From day one I started learning new skills and meeting new people with years of professional experience from all walks of life. Within two weeks I had begun working on projects with real clients. When I didn’t know something, there was always someone nearby willing to help and answer any questions I had. I was always presented opportunities to try new things and put myself out there. I always left the office having learned something new. The atmosphere of the company really allowed me to make myself at home and feel comfortable every day at the office. I always felt like an equal and appreciated member of the team. I am grateful for the opportunity to work at this company as an intern, and now I am grateful to be working as an engineer full time since graduating.” - Nick

“I first heard about McCormick Stevenson in my Communications for Engineers class at the University of South Florida. Nat, the Design Manager at McCormick Stevenson, was in my resumé peer review group. I remember handing Nat my resumé and smiling at the sight of his astonishment. Immediately after class, Nat handed me his card and told me to email him my resumé and cover letter. “We aren’t necessarily looking for a new intern, but we are always looking for new talent,” Nat explained. After an exciting interview with plenty of laughs and a brief tour of the office, they hired me as an Engineering Associate. There is a saying that floats around the office for new hires: “The first week is like drinking from a fire hose.” My first week consisted of meeting – and remembering – every one of my new coworkers and trying to absorb the wealth of knowledge they summarized into 15-minute encounters. Every person I met made me more excited to start meaningful work at McCormick Stevenson. There was a consistent passion for helping those who fight for our freedoms and an uplifting culture that breeds success among all. In a short time, the first impressions turned into lasting business relationships and my time at McCormick Stevenson would prove to foster constant growth and learning and become a place I call home. As a part-time Engineering Associate, I wasn’t treated so much as an intern as I was an employee working like the others. I was given REAL work, worked closely with REAL clients, and had to meet REAL deadlines. I was regularly pushed out of my comfort zone which forced me to learn and grow as an engineer because I was challenged as such. I was always expected to do my best, but never expected to be perfect. Because I wasn’t afraid of failure, I could dive headfirst into a job/task and learn everything on the way to a successful outcome. The internship program allocated a massive amount of time for learning and absorbing as much engineering knowledge as possible, without the stigma of failing. At 5 p.m. on a Friday I left as an intern, and the following Monday at 8 a.m. I walked in as an engineer; I can proudly say that my job did not change. I was working on the same projects with the same people and retained the same responsibilities I had the Friday before. The last two years adequately prepared me for the challenges I will face and the technical wisdom I will need to succeed in engineering. The fast-growing atmosphere will surely bring new responsibilities and opportunities, and I can’t wait to explore my future at McCormick Stevenson.” - Parker

“My family lives in Atlanta and I moved by myself for this internship, so I learned work-life balance as well as applications of the job. I couldn’t have asked for a better gig. I was blessed to work with everyone at McCormick Stevenson and am thankful for their helpful tips and information.” – Gabrielle
