Paul Stevenson’s article on educational development for engineers published by ASME.
Noel founded McCormick Stevenson in 1999 to build a mechanical engineering firm to solve the most challenging engineering problems using the latest in tools and techniques. A mechanical engineer from the University of South Florida, he is a technical leader with a strong history of providing high quality engineering solutions through extraordinary commitment and professionalism. Noel serves as Chairman of the Florida Defense Contractors Association, and is an active member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) – contributing to both the Industry Advisory Board and the Board on Education. He was recognized as the 2007 Engineer of the Year by the Florida West Coast Section of ASME. When not at work, Noel can be found sailing the coastline with his family, catching a Ray’s baseball game or more frequently playing the joyful role of “Pa” to his grandchildren.
Paul brings over 30 years of leadership in design engineering to McCormick Stevenson. He is a mechanical engineer from the University of South Florida – Go Bulls! – and remains active in the engineering college by presenting to students on the importance of professional development and networking. Paul is active at the national level in the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and is currently serving as a voting member on the Board of Governors. Paul also enjoys getting up every day at 5 am and hitting the gym. He feels this 25+ year ritual gives him a great start on the day!
Melissa is a respected leader with a proactive approach to management. She brings the skills necessary to ensure smooth and effective interaction with our customers. An engineer from Georgia Tech, Melissa has over 25 years experience in engineering, personnel and project management. She is very active in the local community, including past president of the Rotary Club of Dunedin. When not at McCormick Stevenson, Melissa may be found sewing or quilting or if she’s lucky, playing with her grandchildren.
Keith joined us in 2008 bringing over 33 years of engineering experience to McCormick Stevenson. His experience and leadership as a mechanical design engineer, a project engineer and a project manager gives him the ability to understand and solve your most challenging problems. Keith is a mechanical engineer from the University of Florida. When he isn’t hard at work, he can always be found chasing the elusive white ball around the golf course, enjoying a Rays baseball game or cheering on his Florida Gators –CHOMP, CHOMP!
With 30 years of experience in mechanical engineering design and analysis, Mike uses his stress and thermal analysis passion and expertise to give our customers the confidence they need to move forward with their designs. Mike is a mechanical engineer from Georgia Tech and a State of Florida licensed Professional Engineer. In his free time, Mike likes to backpack with friends, travel with his family, or research his family tree. Mike also serves the citizens of the City of Tampa as a part-time EMT.
A graduate of MIT with a degree Mechanical Engineering, Matt joined McCormick Stevenson in 2007, bringing a background in product development and manufacturing from the defense, automotive, and medical industries. Matt has proven ability to research solutions, build, and deliver quality designs from concept through production. He is a volunteer with the local section of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and his local cub scout pack. In his free time, Matt enjoys water sports, camping, and spending time outdoors with his family.
Nat joined McCormick Stevenson in 2007 after studying Drafting Technology at St. Petersburg College. He enjoys the teamwork necessary to create designs that meet all project goals. Whether he is creating concept sketches, 3D models, or detailed drawings Nat always strives to bring an element of creativity and a positive professional attitude into his work. Nat is a Florida native who loves family and the outdoors. When not in the office, Nat most enjoys spending time with his wife and three young children. During the days he will most likely be out playing golf, sailing, fishing, or playing guitar. At night you are most likely to find Nat in his books as he works toward his BSME from the University of South Florida.
A graduate of Syracuse University, and a methodically brilliant systems engineer, Barry brings a career’s worth of experience leading technical teams in pursuit of extraordinary challenges.
Betsy is an accomplished business leader and has worked with McCormick Stevenson as a consulting CFO since 2007. She is highly successful in entrepreneurial environments with the need to develop stronger corporate practices. Betsy has expertise in developing collaborative teams enabling the adoption of continuous improvement methodologies. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree from the University of South Florida, and is active in the community, including over 20 years of service on the board of Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay. Betsy is a life-long athlete who practices yoga, enjoys bicycling and loves being outdoors, including out on her boat.
As an IT Specialist, Ryan works to keep MCCST data secure from the latest cyber threats, and makes sure people don’t write their passwords on whiteboards. When not in the office, he’s troubleshooting his home computer, or unplugging with a sketchbook or novel.
Ryan brings a mindset of don’t rest until the project is done. With a background in manufacturing, and fabrication he knows what it takes to meet our customer’s needs and to ensure project success. When not in the office, you can find Ryan fishing or jet skiing on the waters of Tampa Bay, or perhaps playing a quick round of golf.
Kristin makes sure that our financial house remains in good order. Her attention to detail, and professional approach ensure that our customers and staff are always well-informed, and that all of our projects remain on-track for success.
Robin joined the MCCST team in 2015 and serves alongside the executive team supporting overall business operations. A true team player, she specializes in customer service, event planning, networking, maintaining and building McCormick Stevenson’s brand, website and social media.
Robin has a passion for connecting people, helping solve problems, exceeding expectations and deadlines, teaching and a love of learning. She helped form the Tampa Bay Engineering Internship Alliance (TBEIA) and is the driving-force of the TBEIA Bi-annual Engineering Internship Mixers since 2016. In her free time, she loves hanging out with her family and friends, serving her Mary Kay customers/friends, yoga, walking, music, reading and quilting.

Zac’s background in manufacturing brings immediate value to our clients. His attention to detail and design creativity allow him to develop innovative solutions that serve our client’s needs. An avid cyclist and former President of the USF Cycling Team, Zac spends his free time on two wheels—either on or off road, while also enjoying as many Bolts games as possible.
Andrew’s 30 years of mechanical design and drafting experience, coupled with extensive hands-on integration, manufacturing and tooling expertise offer great value to our clients. With wide and varied experience across many Aerospace and Defense programs, Andrew is well-prepared to tackle most any mechanical design challenge.
Mechanical engineer with over 23 years of experience packaging electronics for the harsh environments of military service. Self starting and results oriented with the ability to design for manufacturing and assembly. Capable of creating designs using 3-D CAD software and seeing them through to production. Active for the past 14 years volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America as a Unit Leader and a C.O.P.E and Climbing Instructor. Jon enjoys camping, backpacking, fishing, mountain biking, climbing/rappelling and shooting sports.
Alan is a leadership professional with experience in technology management, systems engineering and risk management, within the Aerospace and Defense industry and customers ranging from the US Army, US Navy/Marine Corps, USSOCOM, and US Air Force. He is passionate about breaking down complex issues into actionable plans and participating in the realization of customer solutions from the high-performing agile teams at McCormick Stevenson. A certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Alan has a Bachelors in Electronics Engineering Technology and an MBA in Technology Management. When Alan is not at work, he is still “on the job” volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America, Knights of Columbus, his church, enjoying a brisk bicycle ride on the local “rails-to-trails”, posting updates on his LinkedIn® or Tweeting on @agauzens.
Andrew is a graduate from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. With a focus in analysis, his curiosity and eagerness to attack new challenges are terrific assets. In his spare time, he can be found cheering for the Boston Red Sox, or visiting family and friends across the country.
Joseph brings over 10 years of mechanical design experience to the McCormick Stevenson Team, including an extensive knowledge of machine design, tooling, fixturing and product development. He is extremely detail oriented, methodically thorough, and loves a good design challenge. On his days off Joseph can be found spending time with his wife and four kids, as well as watching every Bolts game.
A graduate of the University of South Florida and current student of Saint Petersburg College, Alex strives to ensure McCormick Stevenson remains a leader among its peers in cybersecurity. On most days, you can find Alex weightlifting in the gym, playing his ukulele, and tinkering with his home computers
Julius is a student at St. Petersburg College working towards his B.S. in mechanical engineering. His strong work ethic and positive attitude allow him to tackle complex engineering and design challenges. When not in the office Julius can be found spending time with friends and family, weightlifting, and shooting hoops at the gym.
Parker’s positive attitude, good humor and professional approach bring life to the McCormick Stevenson mission. Graduating with a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida, Parker’s background in mechanical design and technical writing provide a set of skills that contribute great value to our clients. His adaptability and dependability ensure that the ever-changing and mission critical needs of our Customers are always met. Outside the office you can find Parker spending time with his family, boating & fishing, or in the garage making knives out of recycled steel.
Ron offers a unique perspective with over 25 years of experience in the automotive tooling industry. He has designed hundreds of fixtures and gages for automotive interior and exterior trim and body panels. Ron began his career as a manual machinist, transitioned to fixture assembly for several years, and has been deeply involved in 3D CAD Modeling and CNC programming since 1996. When not at work, Ron works to improve his golf game, and definitely loves his family time.
William’s interest in design began at an early age. By constantly taking things apart, and only occasionally putting them back together, he began to learn how things worked. William brings that same curiosity and passion to the McCormick Stevenson team. When not at work you can find William volunteering for SkillsUSA, United States Swimming, and Pinellas County Schools. He is also an avid amateur radio operator (W4WYR), announcer and all around good guy.
Nick is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of South Florida. His passion for America’s defense, and eagerness to work hard make him a great addition to the McCormick Stevenson Team. When Nick is not at the office he is playing music or taking care of his animals at home.
Bringing a diverse skill set in hands-on development of large and small projects, Stephen is a great asset to the McCormick Stevenson Team. Stephen graduated Cum Laude with his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Florida. His strengths include an extensive background in small arms and munitions. Blurring the lines between work and play, Stephen can be found adventuring, building/shooting firearms, or attending a CrossFit class to maintain his physical fitness.
Rick brings over 30 years of product design, manufacturing and leadership experience to the McCormick Stevenson team. As a designer of products, as well as the tooling and fixturing required to fabricate those products, he offers our clients a deep understanding of the design for manufacturability challenge. He has implemented ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Management Systems and streamlined operations using LEAN methodologies. In addition to his operations leadership, Rick plays an active role in the manufacturing community in Tampa Bay. He serves an advisory role at Pinellas Technical College, is a member the Florida Suncoast Chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), and is an active member of the Florida West Coast Chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association (NTMA). Rick is a graduate of the General Electric Apprentice Program as a Tool and Instrument Maker and GE’s Intensive Leadership Development Program. When not at work, Rick enjoys spending time with his family, church, traveling, camping, and boating.
With extensive manufacturing engineering leadership experience in electronics, filtration, and electromechanical assembly, J.B. brings over 14 years of aerospace and defense industry knowledge to the McCormick Stevenson team. A proud graduate of the University of South Florida, J.B. earned his degree in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering. When not focused on mission success, J.B. enjoys family time with his wife and three little princesses, visiting Disney, attending Bulls sporting events, as well as chasing the little white ball around a golf course.
Luke’s interest in design started in the 3rd grade – wondering how the Space Shuttle worked. Over time that interest in design became a passion leading to 3D printing as a hobby. Luke brings that passion to the McCormick Stevenson team. When not at work, Luke can be found virtually racing around the world, 3D printing, or by the lake on the golf course attempting to retrieve his ball.
Steven a graduate of the University of South Florida’s Mechanical Engineering program has a background in manufacturing and analysis. He creates designs with production and assembly in mind. Outside of work he enjoys spending his free time at Disney or at home using his 3D printer and experimenting with robotics.
Jim brings a diverse publication and marketing skill set to the MCCST team. His background includes producing a variety of publications for multinational companies covering telecommunications and law enforcement. He has also created MIL-STD publications covering for DOD aerospace advance technologies. His desktop publications skill set provides advance capabilities in creating structured and unstructured interactive documentation with graphic content. In previous marketing roles, he has developed branding strategies that include trade shows, social media, events, website content, customer support and communications programs.
Matthew Gaines is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from North Carolina State University. His 20+ years of experience covers the defense, automotive, and industrial sectors. Matthew has experience in product design, finite element modeling, manufacturing, and process engineering. He enjoys travel, hiking, camping, and playing the keyboard.
As a dimensional measurement specialist, and with decades of hands-on experience, Bob provides technical leadership to McCormick Stevenson’s design, engineering and the manufacturing services and systems group. Bob specializes in GD&T measurement applications, CMM operation and programming, metrology, and reverse engineering functions. He participated in the development and support of the DMIS (Dimensional Measurement Interface Standard) while employed by Grumman Aerospace and still utilizes and supports DMIS today. While working for Grumman Bob received a Bachelor of Professional Studies Degree from the State University of New York at Empire State College.
Raymond is an aspiring mechanical engineer who loves to solve problems and learn new skills. In his free time, he likes to design and tinker with electronics and go kayaking with his friends.
Jamie Shore, Chief Designer, is on the Tool & Gage design team. He has over 25 years of experience in machining, mechanical design, and management of tool room & precision inspection operations. When not in the office, he can be found roaming the midwestern plains in search of upland birds, or on the shooting course breaking clays.
A graduate of University of Florida, Anderson combines his mechanical engineering, electronics, and manufacturing experience to create electronics packaging for a variety of high technology applications. When he’s not at work, Anderson can often be found at the rock climbing gym, or on his mountain bike.
Jim is an experienced Project Engineer and Manager of mechanical design and analysis. He has a proven track record in mechanical design & packaging for extreme military and aerospace environments such as gun launched projectiles and airborne systems. He has expertise in the ANSI Y14 standards, GD&T, transitioning products from design to fabrication, and Failure Modes & Effects Analysis. Jim graduated from the University of South Florida with a BS in Industrial Engineering, and finds great satisfaction in creating new designs that solve difficult problems, pushing the engineering envelope to new levels.
When not meeting interesting engineering challenges, Jim enjoys spending time with his wife, Erin, and their furry child, Jessie. He also enjoys intense and disciplined training in shooting sports. One of Jim’s favorite quotes is: “Without data you are just another person with an opinion” – Deming
Trudy is an accomplished senior leader and program manager with a successful track record of leading teams to deliver on schedule and within budget. Her outstanding interpersonal skills enable her to cultivate excellent customer relationships and to develop and motivate high performing teams. Her prior experience includes engineering and management positions at companies such as General Electric, Concurrent Technologies Corp. and Parsons. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and an Executive MBA from the University of Florida – Go Gators! Trudy is the founding president of the Greater Tampa Bay Chapter of Women In Defense, serves on the University of Florida Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering Advisory Board and supports her local community through many volunteer activities. She enjoys playing golf and spending time with family and friends.
